Covenant MCP
Ask about your fund terms from Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, and get Covenant's answer.
Shortcut: click Copy Markdown above, paste this page into your AI assistant, and ask it to connect Covenant for you. An assistant that can edit its own settings does the setup; any other walks you through the steps.
Covenant MCP is a remote MCP server. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot once, and anyone at the firm can ask about their funds in plain English, in the tool they already have open. Answers come from Covenant, and each person sees only what they can already see in Covenant.
https://covenant.co/api/mcphttps://<your Covenant domain>/api/mcp instead. Transport is streamable HTTP; sign-in is OAuth with your Covenant login.Prerequisites
- A Covenant account. The same login you use for the Covenant app. Each person connects with their own; there are no shared keys.
- An AI tool that supports custom MCP servers. Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Cursor, VS Code, and most coding agents. Each setup page names the plans and versions.
- The admin role your tool requires, for a workspace-wide setup. Each setup page names it.
- Outbound access to Covenant, if your firm restricts what the AI tool can reach:
covenant.co(or your Covenant domain) andsignin.covenant.co. Requests come from the AI vendor's servers, not from your network.
Nothing else: no API key, no software to install, and nothing for Covenant to switch on.
How it works
1. Your admin adds Covenant
A one-time step in your AI tool's settings. About five minutes, with the guide for your tool below.
2. Each person connects
They click Connect, sign in with their own Covenant login, and start asking. No passwords or keys are shared.
Set up your tool
Claude
claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and the Word and Excel add-ins.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT on the web and desktop, and Codex.
Microsoft 365 Copilot
A Copilot Studio agent that calls Covenant, published to your tenant.
Other MCP clients
Cursor, VS Code, and any client that speaks streamable HTTP with OAuth.
What you can ask
- "List my investments."
- "Summarize the fee terms in Fund X."
- "What is the key person clause in Fund X, with the source?"
- "Which of my funds set the GP removal threshold below 75%?"
- "What changed in Fund X's last amendment?"
- "How do Fund X's fees compare with the rest of my portfolio?"
Your AI tool picks the right Covenant tool for each question. See Tools for what each one does.
What is included
- Read-only. Covenant MCP reads your Covenant data. It cannot upload, edit or start a review.
- Your login, your permissions. Each person signs in as themselves and sees exactly the funds and strategies they see in Covenant.
- Answers, not documents. It returns Covenant's surveyed terms, summaries and citations, not the full text of your documents.
- Released work only. A review still in progress at Covenant is not visible until it is released, as in the app.
